New French doors and windows to fit existing frame and shuttering. 2019
Douglas fir, Brass fittings and double glazed glass units, paint.

I made these doors to upgrade an existing set, which were themselves a replacement of the original pair. I rebuilt the external transom with a overhang and drip edge and the doors have draft excluding strips underneath and on the door jambs. I tried to replicate the joinery of the original as far as possible with the shape of the stiles on the doors and the raised panel at the bottom of the door. The detail image also shows where I have made some mends to the original hinge cut-outs on the internal side of the frame where the door originally hung. The external faces of the joinery are painted white, the internals oiled to match the stripped wood of the shutters.
