Laminated shelves
Holland Park, London. 2007
European Oak. Walnut, Birch Plywood, glass & Cork

The idea for the structure of these shelves was conceived during my residency at Cove park in 2006, with my client I developed the design for a set of shelves to display ceramics. The idea was to make a minimal wooden framework to house and support the glass using the inherent strength of the bent wood lamination to make a sort of cantilever from the wall. The cabinet at the base of the shelves has a tambour door which opens by rolling around the back of the cabinet. The piece is a mixture of quarter-sawn oak on the outside and walnut on the inside of the cabinet and laminations. (Ceramics not included).
