Cork, Oak and Wenge 2009

The booklet relates to a show I put on in 2009. Aside from presenting a new body of work, the exhibition focused on the research I did on the materials, their provenance and the processes involved in their manufacture. I did this to give a deeper insight into the furniture and the issues surrounding its production. This included: cork from the Alentajo region of Portugal, a reclaimed wenge floor from the IRA bombed old baltic exchange in the city of London. Cork stoppers recycled by St John restaurant and oak veneer cut at Reliance veneer, the last veneer producer in the UK.
